HireVue vs Shynsa: which fits an Indian hiring team better?

HireVue is a US enterprise platform built for large global employers. Shynsa is built for Indian hiring — from a single shop owner's first job posting to a 10,000-interview-a-month enterprise drive.

HireVue is one of the most established AI video-interviewing platforms globally, used by large multinational employers for structured video assessments. It's a capable, well-audited platform — SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001/27701 certified — but it's priced, sold, and built for a very different buyer than most Indian hiring teams: a US-headquartered enterprise running a global, English-first, sales-led procurement process. For an Indian BPO, retail chain, or small business that needs to start screening candidates this week, in Hindi or Tamil, without a sales call, that's a mismatch worth understanding before you evaluate either platform.

Pricing: transparent-and-small vs quote-only-and-large

Shynsa's pricing is published, per-interview, and starts at ₹60 — a shop owner hiring two people and an enterprise hiring two thousand use the identical pricing model, just at different volumes. HireVue publishes no pricing anywhere on its site; third-party buyer data and reseller breakdowns put contracts at roughly $35,000/year for the base tier, climbing past $145,000 once AI scoring and assessments are added, before implementation fees. That's a defensible price for the enterprise value HireVue delivers — but it puts the platform entirely out of reach for the vast majority of Indian hiring teams, including most Indian BPOs and retail chains, not just small businesses.

Facial analysis: HireVue removed it, we never had it

To HireVue's credit, it discontinued facial-expression analysis in 2021 after sustained criticism that scoring micro-expressions could disadvantage neurodivergent candidates and people with facial differences — the company's own retrospective found visual data added roughly 0.25% to predictive accuracy. Shynsa never analysed faces or emotions in the first place; camera recording is entirely optional per position, and scoring is based only on what a candidate says, not how they look while saying it.

Built for India, not adapted for it

HireVue's language support, data hosting, and consent workflows are designed around US and EU regulatory frameworks (Illinois's AI Video Interview Act, GDPR, CCPA). Shynsa is built around India's DPDP Act 2023 from the ground up — data stored in India (Mumbai region), explicit timestamped consent, and native support for Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Bengali, and Kannada, including reports generated in the local language for hiring managers who aren't comfortable reading English summaries.
